Personal Growth Program - Appear Thin - Part 1

Some Tips on "HOW TO APPEAR THINNER?

We all want to appear the best we can no matter what our size. Maybe you have a few extra pounds and want to camouflage them. You do not always have to lose weight in order to appear thinner. Here are some tips that will make you look and feel as if you have experienced weight loss.

Instructions

Step 1 - If you are heavy on the bottom, wear a solid color on your bottom half. Stay away from patterns and bright colors. Wear patterns on top to detract attention from your lower half. You will appear more balanced and look thinner without having to lose weight.

Step 2 - If you are heavy on top, reverse this. Wear bottoms that have more detail, and tops that are simple and plain. Again, this minimizes your top half, and makes you appear thinner all over.

Step 3 - To give yourself the appearance of a waist, wear longer, fitted shirts that come just below the lower belly. Wear a wide belt or scarf around your waist area. You will give the appearance of a slimmer waistline.

Step 4 - Do not wear clothes too loose. This does not camouflage, but only gives the appearance of sloppiness. Wear clothes that are form fitting to appear thinner.

Step 5 - Do not wear clothes that are too tight either. We do not to overly accentuate bumps or bulges. This will only make you appear heavier than you actually are. You will look like you have lost weight if you wear clothes that fit your body.

Step 6 - Wear heels. They make you taller and that makes you appear thinner without having to actually lose weight or diet.

Simple Tips for Relationship Bliss - Part 2

7. Distance makes the heart grow fonder.

Maintain your own friendships and occasionally have a night out without your significant other. Doing things with the thoughts makes you miss him or her, it also keeps you sane. And, in case the relationship doesn't work out, you'll still have your friends.

8. Sound it out.

In other words: communicate! Talking out the tough subjects—money, religion, fidelity, raising kids—will not be the most fun you've had, but it'll be valuable.

9. Laughter is the best medicine.

Learn to laugh at yourself and at silly mistakes. If he throws your cashmere sweater in the dryer, laughing it off is, in the long run, better than getting angry. It's is just a cashmere sweater, not the end of the world.

10. Keep your eyes on the prize.

Yes, he forgot your co-worker's name for the tenth time, but it probably doesn't mean he doesn't care about you. If you keep your perspective fixed on the goal—to be in a happy, functioning partnership—you're less likely to get tangled up in every minor annoyance. Remember, you both want the same thing

11. Quitters never win.

Find a ritual and keep it alive, no matter what. Whether it's always kissing each other good night, renewing wedding vows every year, sleeping in as late as you want once a month, pick something that makes you both feel good and stick to it, even when you're tempted to skip.

12. When the going gets tough, the tough get going... to therapy.

Studies show that couples who seek counseling during rocky periods are more successful in resolving their issues than those who don't. Whether its from a religious figure, counselor or mental health professional, getting an expert to help sort out strife is as wise as forgoing self-installation and hiring a plumber to put in a new sink.

Simple Tips for Relationship Bliss - Part 1

1. Mind your manners.

"Please," "thank you" and "you're welcome," can go a long way in helping your partner remember that you respect and love him and don't take him for granted.

2. Variety is the spice of life.

Studies have shown that dullness can lead to dissatisfaction with a relationship. Trying something new can be as simple as visiting an unfamiliar restaurant or as grand as a backpacking trip somewhere. Discoveries you make together will keep you feeling close.

3. The couple that plays together, stays together.

Find a sport or hobby that you both love (no, watching TV does not count) and make that a priority in your relationship. Camping, biking, building model trains... whatever it is, find something you enjoy doing together.

4. Fight right.

In order to have productive arguments, keep these rules in mind. Don't call your spouse names. When things get really tough, take a break from the argument. Let the other person finish his/her sentences. Don't initiate a discussion when you're angry.

5. I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine.

No one likes demands (unless you're in a BDSM role play), but everyone can appreciate a compromise. If you want your lover to do something and you're not sure he'll be agreeable, the quickest way to avoid a confrontation is to sweeten the deal. For example: "Sure, I'll watch Monday Night Football if you take me to see the next movie of my choice."

6. Two heads are better than one.

Being in a relationship basically means you've made a merger; you've not only joined assets but inherited the other's problems as well. Rather than looking at his problems as merely his own, tackle them together. For example, if he's gaining weight, rather than pushing him to diet on his own, enroll in an exercise program together.

Knowing A Husband....

Husbands used to be all the same, not anymore. Find out which one works for you!

The Fatherly Husband:
This old almost father-like husband is favourite amongst young girls who want nothing but money. He’s a billionaire, multi-married and is prone to heart attacks! A new young wife immediately puts the grandfather hubby on a diet. There’ll be dramatic weight loss, booze-free, no smoking and coloured hair days. The idea is to keep him fit until he signs everything to his dear wife. Remember, Anna Nicole Smith, 26 and how she married billionaire J. Howard Marshall, 89. Sometimes money takes over love issues!

The Gay Husband:
He is a husband, just for the namesake. The fact that he seems to have gay male friends could be hint. Gay husband is a pain as his true love and feelings is for someone of same sex. Remember the movie, Brokeback Mountain. The man-on-man stories are really catching up. So, ladies better be careful.

The Super-Ugly, Rich Husband:
He’s got everything except the looks. He has the ego of 10 men; he thinks he is God, pays for everyone and everything. Cherry on the top, he will have the most beautiful woman by his side. When you see this couple in a party, the first things that come to your mind are ‘How could she?’ or ‘Does she really have sex with him?’. This husband is surviving because he’s got money everywhere. He’ll pamper her with diamonds, new houses and she’ll stick to him till his money disappears.

The Greedy Husband:
He is too lazy to work and earn huge bucks. The easy way out is to hunt out for a multi-millionaire girl irrespective of her looks. All he wants is a BMW, the wine, cigars, penthouse, club memberships - but he’s not prepared to work hard for them. Fortune-hunting husband is basically a charming, lazy guy.

The Flirty Husband:
He has a nice wife but still he is greedy and loves to be surrounded by other beauties too. He can’t help groping his way through his wife’s friends, female coworkers, lady doctors -- basically any female with good looks. He won’t ever miss a chance of dropping or picking wife’s cousins or female friends to the airport or passing comments like ‘Sorry, but I can’t stop staring at your deep brown eyes’. He’s the sort of man that is incapable of being faithful. No love is true love for him; he can slip for any attractive girl.

The Always Penniless Husband:
The relationship starts off with thousand promises but soon all the charm fades away. He is unemployable, sitting at home eating and watching football. His parents thought he will realize his responsibilities after marriage, but no gain. The wife takes nearly no maternity leave and seems to be supporting her entire household on her salary alone. Truly, this husband is a life sentence of misery.

The Friendly Hubby:
He’s not a bad husband but his life is dedicated to his own social advancement. He cares too much about the parties, hanging with friends, night outs, travelling, long drives with his buddies. He is so very excited about these things, that he won’t even mind taking over his wife’s social life. He doesn’t believe in staying at home, he wants to have blast every night. This kind of husband can drive his wife to social madness.

The Almost Perfect Husband:
On the face, he appears to be a dream husband but in reality he is too irritating. He’s attentive, caring, loving, polite, well-dressed but always hovering near his wife, interrupting when she’s on phone, checking how much she’s been eating, drinking and spending. He’s just too much to handle. He turns up everywhere his wife goes at lunches, parties and he secretly hates her to have any friends and forbids her to even work. He basically shows he is a gem of a husband but he is a real pain. He looks like a perfect guy but he ain’t.

Girls spend 4 yrs of life on phone !!

London : The girl-phone affair has long been known to mankind. And now, a new study has claimed that girls spend more than four years of their lives “on their beloved”.

The new study in UK has found that women will make or receive an average of 288,000 calls in their lifetime. Those calls last a total of 42,000 hours — or 4.75 years. As far as men are concerned, they are not much of “yappers”— their 277,000 calls in a lifetime take up 28,500 hours or 3.25 years, reports the Sun.

The research, for mobile phone recycler phonepiggybank.com, found that women in London are Britain’s biggest gasbags, spending an incredible 14 hours 16 minutes a week talking on either mobile or landline. A spokesman for phonepiggybank.com said: “The figures are remarkable. It’s very easy to lose track of time while chatting on the phone, and it seems women are more prone to this than blokes.” One in five also admitted to have left saucy or shocking messages on a wrong number.

Psychology Of Crying - Does a good cry really help?

We take a look at the psychology of crying.

A good cry can often make us feel better and help us put things in perspective. Now, a new study has revealed that the benefits of crying depend entirely on the what, where and when of a particular ‘crying episode’. The University of South Florida psychologists analysed the detailed accounts of more than 3000 recent crying experiences (which occurred outside of the laboratory).

The researchers found that the majority of respondents reported improvements in their mood following a bout of crying. However, one third of the survey participants reported no improvement in mood and a tenth felt worse after crying. The survey also revealed that criers who received social support during their crying episode were the most likely to report improvements in mood.

Volunteers who cry in a laboratory setting often do not describe their experiences as being cathartic or making them feel better. Rather, crying in a laboratory setting often results in the study participants feeling worse; this may be due to the stressful conditions of the study itself, such as being videotaped or watched by research assistants. This may produce negative emotions (such as embarrassment), which neutralise the positive benefits usually associated with crying.

However, these laboratory studies have provided interesting findings about the physical effects of crying. Criers do show calming effects such as slower breathing, but they also experience a lot of unpleasant stress and arousal, including increased heart rate and sweating.

What is interesting is that bodily calming usually lasts longer than the unpleasant arousal. The calming effects may occur later and overcome the stress reaction, which would account for why people tend to remember mostly the pleasant side of crying.

Research has shown that the effects of crying also depend on who is shedding the tears. For example, individuals with anxiety or mood disorders are least likely to experience the positive effects of crying. Also, the researchers found that people who lack insight into their emotional lives (a condition known as alexithymia) actually feel worse after crying. The authors suggest that for these individuals, their lack of emotional insight may prevent the kind of cognitive change required for a sad experience to be transformed into something positive.

Effect of Color on Behaviour !!

Are you planning to repaint your house? Psychologists believes that colors has effect on behavior. According to Maria Simonson, Ph.D., Sc.D., a behaviorist, the color you pick for a room will have some sort of effect on its occupants. In fact, it has been found out that kids learn better in brightly colored rooms.

So, if you want to have a relaxing dinning room and you are staying in cool climates, better paint your dining room with off-white, tan, pale gold or beige color. And, if you are staying in a warmer climate, better paint your it with cool blue or green color. But, if you want your family’s appetite especially kids’ appetite to be stimulated better paint it with warm colors like yellow, orange or red.

If you want to have a good night sleep or an optimal sleeping conditions, pale pink, mauve and lavender colors are great for cooler climates. Pale blue, pale green and beige are good relaxing colors for those with hot climates. If you are suffering from lack of sleep, why not repaint your room?

Color your rooms to make it more homey to the occupants than just an ordinary room because color could greatly affect one’s behavior.

How to Speak Well and Confidently !!!

Speaker, Are you very shy when it comes to new surroundings, such as starting a new class or moving to a new area? Sometimes, it is necessary to overcome your shyness and speak confidently. By doing this, it can help you not only to share your ideas properly to others, but also to learn communicating with others. Here are a few steps to consider when speaking with confidence.

Steps

1. Learn how to have conversations with people. Your ideas or opinions may not always be accepted by others, but this is nothing unusual. Open your mouth, express your beliefs! This will improve your courage.

2. Don’t be afraid and speak loudly. If you speak in a low voice, not only will others not be able to hear what you say, but you will also portray a submissive demeanor, which suggests the opposite of a confident one.

3. Make eye contact when you speak. For one thing, it is polite for others. Also, eye contact will help others to listen to your thinking carefully.

4. Praise yourself everyday! This will promote your own confidence, which is important when you speak. With more confidence, people will take your thinking more seriously.

Tips

* Don’t be nervous when you make mistakes. Human error is far from being a new concept — nobody is perfect! It is normal for everyone to make mistakes. Just calm down and keep speaking bravely.

* Try and try again! This may be difficult for a shy person at first, but you need to force yourself to speak, and not seclude your thoughts. If you have some ideas, then try to speak out! Don’t just keep them in your head.

* If you have self confidence issues, try to think that you are the only one who has sound knowledge about the topic. Then go ahead and impart your knowledge to the audience in an effective way.

* Remember that there is a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Don’t portray an exaggerated amount of confidence, or you will come off as arrogant, believing that your ideas are better than the ideas of everyone else.

Swine Flu Mask - N95

Why is Swine Flu Mask called N95 ?

Respirators or N95 masks can block 95% small particles that contain the H1n1 virus, which causes Swine Flu. These are expensive and can be used only for a single day. These masks are made of three layers of electrostitically charged microfibres, that block 95% particles, the name N95.

Wash Your Hands Of Infection

Worried about the Swine Flu getting you? Not if you were washing your hands as often as you should with soap. That is still the best way in the world to fight disease. Studies have proved, over and over, that hands are one of the leading sources of spreading infection. Diarrhoez, pnuemonia and acute respiratory problems are direct result of onfection caused primarily by dirty hands. 70% of the people dont wash hands after touching ordinary objects. Swimw Flu will spread less quickly, if people wash their hands more. It has been found that the risk of diarrhoea is reduced by half and that of life-threatening diarrhoea by more than half, when hands are washed with soap.

So when should we wash our hands? Every time they get dirty. but more importantly, before eating or feeding children, after using the toilet, every time we cough or sneeze and before wearing contact lenses. It takes at least 20-30 seconds to wash one's hands properly but most of us spend just five seconds.
There are six steps to germ-free hands :
1) Wet hands, apply soap, rub palms till a lather is created.
2) Rub each palm over the back of the other hand
3) Rub between the fingers
4) Rub the backs of the fingers
5) Rub around each thumbs
6) Rub plams with finger tips. Rinse & dry.

It is equally important to dry one's hands on a clean towel.

How To Set A Table for a Romantic Dinner ?

Craving some quality time with your partner ? here are some suggestions on how to set your tale for a romantic tete-a-tete.

First, seat yourselves Parisian-style, side by side, rather than across from each other.

Simple, classic table elements usually work best. A crisp linen table cloth, your best china, stemware and flatware. This is also the perfect opportunity to use more rare items such as bouillon spoons or fish knives, depending on what you are serving.

Here is a way to make place settings even more special. After pulling your napkins through treasured napkin rings, attach placecards with ribbon that say 'you' and 'me'. This adds a whimsical touch.

A centrepiece could be as simple as a dozen flowers of your choosing placed in an antique pitcher or vase. if you are using roses, scatter the petals of one rose across the table.

One final touch : A bowl of juicy strawberries make a nice palate cleanser between courses.

Bon appetit !!

It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Is Your Child Curious ?

Whenever your child asks 'why', be happy. It gives you a chance to acknowledge him.

Why is sky blue?
Where do babies come from?
What makes dogs bark?

We dont need to tell you that children are curious! Curiosity fuels imagination and leads to creativity and confidence. Curiosity makes children learn about their surroundings and equips them with knowledge. It is important for a parent to satisfy the curiosity of teh child. DO not brush aside their questions, queries but answer them with patience and make it fun for them.

Children have a natural instinct to know what is around them and the eagerness must be met with the same kind of enthusiasm by parents. make it interesting with fun, tips, activities and learning games that will attract their attention for some time. In all the learning methods, it is important that even the smallest questions be answered. A child seeking details is natural of him. Not answering their questions makes them think otherwise. Sociologists say, "A curious child is a healthy child as he/she desires to learn more. This thirst when satisfied by the parents makes them yearn for more. however tired parents may be, it is important that they spend time with their child".

When a parent shows positive sign, the child is ready to learn, hence you don't have to push them towards learning. A teacher with a special school says, "Parents must understand that a child learns at his own space. They must realise the capability of a child first. Also, there are various methods of teaching. A method that is applicable for one child may not be so for another".

So if you find that your child is not inclined towards certain things, do not push him but generate attention and if he/she responds, then you have done it.

Are You On A Brink Of Break-Up ? - Part 2

Yesterday we saw 4 points about brink of Break-up :

1. She calls you and / or returns your calls less frequently.
2. She prefers to go out with her girlfriends.
3. She thwarts your attempts at PDA (Public Display of Affection).
4. She avoids referring to you as her boyfriend.

Continued .....

5. Her career suddenly becomes a priority.
Has she started working late every night ? Does she disappear to to the office on the weekend ? Everyone can have a bsuy day, week or even month. But if she is serious about you, she'll make time for you. Enough said.

6. She draws attention to the views you dont have in common
A woman in love is usually willing to overlook a man's differing political or social views. So if you find that she's constantly bringing up your incompatible views, pay attention. She is probably starting to question your long-term compatibility, so note that a break-up may be impending.

7. She highlights mismatched long-term expectations.
Does she constantly mention your conflicting plans of where to live and how many children to have (if any)?. maybe she does actually see your long-term expectations as different, and this is definitely something to consider before moving forward. But this could also ber her way of preparing you for a break-up.

8. She picks fights with you.
if she unleashes her wrath on you just for leaving a couple of dirty dishes in the sink or for leaving the toilet seat up, listen closely. She is clearly bottling up some serious anger toward you, and that;s why the littlest thing can set her off. If she does this often, she may even be hoping you will take the bait and break up with her first. Consider your options.
